The Indiana Sheep Association will hold the 2006 Sheep Symp-osium and Annual ISA Meeting on Saturday, Feb. 25, 2006 at the Hamilton County Fair-grounds in Noblesville.Traditionally, the Symposium has been held in early January, but the change was made to better accommodate lambing schedules and weather concerns.The ISA is in the midst of finalizing the program, but the Symposium is already showing promise to be the best yet! The variety of topics will appeal to everyone from the novice to the expert shepherd. Sessions will include:“What You Need to Know About Raising Sheep and Where to Find It!” and “Facilities” with Susan Schoenian, Sheep & Goat Specialist from Western Maryland Research & Education Center“Designing an Effective Selection Program for Your Flock” and “Wool or No Wool? If That’s the Question, What’s the Answer?” with Debra Aaron, Ph. D., University of Kentucky, Department of Animal Sciences.“Anthelmintic Resistance in Goats” with Dr. Michael Levy and Dr. Nicole Ferguson of Purdue School of Veterinary Medicine.Other sessions will include an update panel from the Indiana Board of Animal Health, USDA and American Lamb Board as well as crafts, nutritional information and a “Sheep and Goat Help Desk” which will have a panel of experts - more available
