One thing I have been quite happy with however is my SBC/Yahoo DSL. I ordered it online and received my modem and filters in less than a week. The service worked right out of the box and has operated flawlessly ever since. I have been a big fan of cable modems and service in the past, but they did not offer it here last year...another joke. But, I can recommend the SBC Yahoo! DSL to anyone and right now they are giving it away for 19.95/mo. or something crazy like that. If you are still on dial up, this is your chance.

Phone wars make way for broadband battles - San Mateo County Times

While few argue with AT&T's right to shape its new U-Verse service as it sees fit, what if a customer wants broadband but not the video service?
